Because our members have been diligent in the management of the Chapter facility, we
believe the construction of a new building, coupled for the time being with the existing facility, will
allow Kansas Eta to maintain it’s stature as the most sought after membership in fraternal life at WSU.
With the construction as proposed, we will strive to maintain the laid-back, home-like feel of our
present facility, while adding more formal living and entertaining space. It’s also our goal to keep the
warm sense of brotherhood, which fundamentally aids our members in successfully navigating their
collegiate careers.

Among the improvements
contemplated for the new facility:


• Construction of a new, approximately 11,518 sq. ft. commercial grade, brick-faced building;

• Suite-style living to accommodate six men, each with full bath facilities;

• Two story main floor grand library, with formal staircase and fireplace;

• Lower level informal living room for daily use by active members;

• Chapter Lecture Room facilities to accommodate up to 100 men;

• A second floor reference center for educational conferences;

• First floor residential learning community study centers specially suited for live-out members;

• Fully equipped lower level kitchen;

• Insulated, vinyl or steel clad windows and exterior door units;

• Commercial fire suppression system throughout;

• Paved parking lot to
accommodate 46 vehicles;

• Commercial grade
construction and finishes.

The Board engaged the
professional architectural services of Spangenberg/Phillips, Architects to assist in the development of plans for the new facility. The Alumni Board’s strategic plan is to:

• Tailor a new facility to match the appearance of the traditional buildings on Wichita State’s campus;

• Construct a 30-man Chapter facility on our property at 17th and Vassar;

• Provide quality, comfortable, competitively priced living accommodations for undergraduate members of KS Eta;

• Maintain a serviceable level of indebtedness for management by Alumni Board and the active chapter;

• Review and assess the existing chapter facility for continued use.
